Psychology & Workplace Consulting

Dr Kate Cain is a Clinical Psychologist who provides private sessions for clients from her rooms on Level 4, 407 Swanston St, Melbourne (Mondays & Wednesdays) as well as from 50 Armstrong St Middle Park (Thursdays & Fridays). She also runs group workshops focusing on wellness issues, and works with business clients to develop and implement workplace wellness programs. In particular, Kate has an interest in helping organisations address, and prevent, workplace bullying.

Kate helps bring an understanding to clients’ issues and a focus on what they might be able to do to make changes in their life. Every client has their own story and their own life values and goals. Being guided by those, Kate works with her clients to develop a plan to help make the changes they want in order to improve their wellbeing and have a happier life.

Kate has a lot of empathy for people who may at times be struggling with life. You will not be judged. Kate will help you with techniques and strategies to understand and manage those issues, and will work with you to help identify your strengths and qualities in order to build your resilience.

Clinical Psychologist payment & rebate information

You may be able to receive up to 10 Medicare rebates per calendar year for treatment from a registered Clinical Psychologist. To receive this rebate your GP needs to prepare a Mental Health Treatment Plan for you plus they need to provide you with a referral letter.

That referral can never be for more than six appointments. Once you have had your first six appointments you will need to see your doctor again for another referral letter. You don’t need a new Mental Health Treatment Plan unless your clinical condition has changed, that will be a matter for your GP, however you do need another referral letter. Note that even if the doctor has given you a referral for six more appointments, you will still only be eligible for a maximum of ten sessions in a calendar year. If you have sessions left on a referral at the end of the year, you will eligible to claim a rebate for those sessions in the new year.

You can talk to your own GP about obtaining a Mental Health Treatment Plan and referral or alternatively, you may be able to claim from your private health insurance. Please speak with your health fund insurer to confirm your policy coverage.

You can have funds from Medicare rebates or private health insurance claims sent directly to your bank account. Payment is required on the day of your session.
